After a fresh easyAsterisk install or an upgrade asterisk server doesn't start properly with following error in console:
ERROR asterisk.c: Asterisk has detected a problem with your Zaptel configuration and will shutdown for your protection. You have options: 1. You only have to compile Zaptel support into Asterisk if you need it. One option is to recompile without Zaptel support. 2. You only have to load Zaptel drivers if you want to take advantage of Zaptel services. One option is to unload zaptel modules if you don't need them. 3. If you need Zaptel services, you must correctly configure Zaptel The cause is usually an incompatibility between the hardware in use and ztdummy (loaded by default). Ztdummy provide timing to asterisk when no zaptel hardware is installed. Here are some possible solutions: - Install some zaptel device, so ztdummy will not be loaded. - Remove ztdummy from easyAsterisk configuration ("Hardware Settings => Custome Zaptel" and remove ztdummy from "zapstart" file). Be careful, without timing interface some applications as meetme may not work correctly. - Disable ACPI and reboot your system. You need to edit /boot/grub/grub.conf and modify kernel parameters as follows: kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-53.1.4.el5 ro root=LABEL=/ vga=0x314 acpi=off
